Happy to hear you found the pin...I have a special kilt pin also and I would be EXTREMELY unhappy if I lost it!

Now, as far as the Tex-Mex or Cajun haggis...why not! Part of my family (also the Scottish link there) comes from DEEP East Texas and cajun cooking is mixed in there also. When I described haggis to a friend (Hispanic) his eyes got wide and his comment was "Sounds good!".

In retrospect the day was as I said uneventful in a 'normal' way, but to spend it in reflection of who I am now and celebration of my family heritage was far more important. Having a good supper with my wife and celebrating with the friends and brothers here on XMarks from across the world did in many ways made my St. Andrew's Day truly eventful day. Life is truly good!

    Boudain...

Boudin or andoulle would be delicious in haggis.
Boudain Blanc, a French white sausage that the Cajuns eat, is almost identical to Haggis, save that Haggis has oats, and Boudain has rice. I wouldn't put it in Haggis (since it is essentially the same thing!), but I have served it as a substitute a couple of times when I couldn't get the real thing.

    Cheers,

    T.

    Chorizo Haggis?

    I'd eat that.

I eat way to many Chorizo and pepper jack cheese with black beans and hominy wraps.

    Urp.
Doc, making your own chorizo is easy ( I don't know what it costs out your way) Take any ground sausage and add as much red chili powder as you can handle to it, mix it real good and then cook up. The grease should be a nice orange color.

Just a closing note on the kilt-pin lost on St. Andrews Day. I will not go on a long walk again with that pin. They cost to much to simply lose like a grade school kid losing a glove. I have an idea for a more safe kilt-pin which I will probably bring up in "kilt accessories". Cheers- Alan

I had a pin with a slightly loose catch. I just took a needlenose pliers and squeezed it until the latch had a bit more resistance. No more problem.
