    Red Kilt Hose

I've seen red lewis hose and some hand red knit hose, but I seem to have a hard time finding a cheaper colored kilt hose or piper hose. I've looked and would like to not get economy hose but was wondering if anyone knew of a website to find some nice middle of the road red hose. I'm a fan of the piper hose because of the flexibility it gives on how to fold them with the longer length but would also go for standard colored kilt hose.

    Thanks,
    Matt

I have 3 pair of Lewis Hose. I don't think you'd have any regrets spending the money. I have them in claret (red), as well, and they look awesome.

Although, if temperature control is a concern, they are quite cozy and that may bother some in warmer weather.

The Glennmore hose already mentioned are the only "cheaper" red hose that I personally know of.

I will second Creag, I finally bought myself a pair of Lewis hose last weekend, and not to say that the less expensive colored kilt hose I own are bad (I think they feel great) but the Lewis hose are veritably luxurious.

Have you tried looking at Outdoor shops for Hiking socks? There are certain types that are very close to kilt hose (including a proper turnover) & they tend to come in more unusual colour schemes. I have a Blue & Brown sets of Hiking socks that can double up as kilt hose satifactorily. They tend to be cheaper too.

I wonder if this may be more common on your side of the pond, since shooting socks and hiking socks are more commonly seen with a turnover or cuff. I've never seen hiking socks here in the US with a turnover; they usually just have an elastic top with a stitched edge. Do you have a brand you would recommend?

If I could remember the make I would, but it was a long time ago that I bought them. When I enquired at a local outdoor shop the said they were designed for wearing with shorts.
