    I am pretty sure there was recently a post here about kilted flying that mentioned replacing their metal buckles with carbon fibre. I looked but couldn't find the post. Maybe they will chime in again with a source.

    I never wear pants flying, always kilted. So far no real issues other than stepping aside and getting the pat down. Does not hinder or bother me. I usually wear utility kilts with snaps.

    Once someone shared Steve's tip above I started doing the metal detectors sideways. Even worked for Utilikilts. Simple solution. It works. Try it. If it doesn't work no more a problem than going through the regular way. TSA ladies LOVE to wand us...
