Shoe Search help

OK guys, I hope someone here can help me on my search. I have been trying to find a source for a shoe that is comparable to the old leather, military, plain round toe dress oxford. I recently found out, from my brother, that they are no longer available through uniform sales. Do any of you out there know of a good source?

The military dress shoe as we knew it from the 60/70 era has changed with time. Your brother is not correct with his statement, I just bought a pair several months ago.

Almost the same, but these are the correct dress oxford for all services, they do come in brown also.

Thanks ever so much. Now I can get the dress shoes that I prefer when next I am ready to order shoes. According to my brother, when the sister in-law went to clothing sales the only thing that they had were Corifams (the ones with a plastic finish).

That's pretty much what I have seen as well. I didn't like mine anyway as the soles wound up breaking apart in chunks. I wore a pair of leather Loakes last time I wore my uniform. Sort of as an "optional purchase" as stated in the regulation.

When I was in the US Coast Guard back in the sixties, Corifams shoes were available, but were not allowed to be worn with the uniform, as they were considered non-issued. Now that was on board ships and in the First CG District, I don't know about the rest of the CG or other branches.

Corifams don't breath and hold the heat inside the shoe, I personally do not like them.


OK the link I gave you above was for shoes that are slightly blemished shoes, referred to as . Nothing really wrong with them, but leather will not shine as well as Grade A shoes,that is why the price is so low, if you prefer to purchase grade A new shoes buy them here.

Thanks for the link Collin. I sure like that academy shoe because of the upper construction. That would polish nicely and flex with my foot as I walk without messing up too much of the final finish.

Just my opinion and will keep it in mind for a future shoe purchase.

When I was a young cop just starting out the older veterans wore what is known as a chukka shoe which sits just above the ankle Bates has that shoe, hope this helps.

Nice site, but think the OP is looking for shoes with leather uppers, not the Poromeric uppers (plastic) uppers.

Try this : https://www.sanders-uk.com. Not cheap but astonishingly good quality. They make brogues and pipers' buckled brogues for the British army. Northampton the town in which Sanders & Sanders are based is famous for shoe making. They have a section on the site "Uniform"

I’ll second Sanders shoes and boots. They are excellent and will last you a lifetime with proper care (I own a pair of their “Balmoral” brogues as well as a pair of George Boots - great with trews, a lounge or dinner suit).

I don’t understand the pictures of shoes shown in the links from earlier posts though - called Oxfords but, In fact, Derby cut shoes.
