Semper Fi....Unkilted Marine
Posted info on the Off Topic board...and it died.
Take a look there. A young Marine, and kilted brother, just shipped out and will be in harm's way.
He left an email addy for support. Know there are a bunch of Marines on this board. Check it out.
His profile on the UK board shows a good looking single young man if you young ladies on the board are looking.

No one responded...just my expectations. Thought folks might miss it down there.
Up to you boss.

Instead of starting a new thread with no useful info in it, you might get more response with a simple *BUMP* in the original thread (which we still don't have a link to).

Boy, you're smarter than this old bird...no clue what you mean. The original is still down on off topic...
Maybe just assigning my behavior to others, didn't go to off topic much because I was here for kilt info, then when I finally did found there was some good stuff on off topic.
My hope was that this brother kilted Marine would get a bunch of email support from the board...
But, my expectations are often the source of my disappointments.

Unkilted Marine
Ron,
It didn't die, I replied to it but I sent it to him personally at the address provided. I also mentioned it was ironic he couldn't bring a kilt where First Sgt Farr was encouraged to wear one. I said it sounded like a good excuse to take up the pipes...
I was going to post his original message, but I don't have it anymore. Ron, can you help? Here is his e-mail address (posted at the other board) if anyone is interested in saying hello personally to him as I did. He may not have access to these boards, or his access may be severly restricted while he's deployed.

He's a Sgt (E-5)
Take care

Duh...I am sooooo brain dead. Thanks Lauren.
It just never occured to me that folks would email him direct with no need to post to the Off Topic board...
Would be cool if he could join the board when he gets computer access.
Anyhow, since you asked, here's his original post to the UK board that I hijacked over here.
Here's his post:
I set sail tomorrow (the 6th) from San Diego Harbor upon the USS
Bonhomme-Richard.
We are going to the Middle East, either to Iraq or Afghanistan. We still are not
sure
which. I have been forbidden to bring a kilt along so no photos....however, I
have stored
one in my car. The point at which I know I will be back in the states, will be
when I get
my car, open the box and strap on the kilt. <grin>
Request well wishes be sent to halsteadwf(at)bonhomme-richard(dot)usmc(dot)mil
See you all in 6 months.

Unkilted Marine
Ron,
No problem there, we're all in this together...thanks for posting his message. Sounds like he may be getting a few e-mails from all this...
Take care

I have sent my well wishes to Sgt. Halstead. It would be nice if all former military members here, did the same. Whatever your feelings about this conflict, it comes down to one young kid, a long way from home, going in harms way, who could use some kind words from those who understand what that means.

Good luck to the Sgt but I can understand not taking a kilt.
He is not a 1st sgt and will not have all the luxuries that one would.
