Excellent find! I wish I'd had access to material like this 20 years ago. But, as you said, we did with what was available to us. I do have the biography of James Grant (by Nelson), but it contains little on the specific topics of 77th uniforms or F&I Highland dress. Again, I shall be very interested to discover what you learn from the Grant papers.
