Now, there are a lot of reasons why the climate varies between the two - the ocean, elevation, etc. etc., but it's an interesting geographic calculation.

We are a few hour drive South of the California/Oregon border. 60-70 miles south (straight line) of San Francisco. The beach is a 25 minute drive. If/when snow arrives, the level is about 1500ft. The only peaks above that around the bay are one North Bay, one in the East Bay, a few miles along a southern section of large hills, & the section of the Coastal Mountains where we are.

I wouldn't mind some snow as long as I'm warm and safe at home.
We should be getting our first hard freeze this weekend, I think. I still need to put all my winter insulation on exposed pipes. Crud.
I did the water pipes, yesterday. I’m the only one of the family that has driven in the snow. I don’t like doing it. The fact that we have a couple of aging Range Rover(1988) & a Discovery 1 (1997), means little. Without snow driving experience, having four wheel drive simply allows one to drive into deeper snow prior to getting stuck.
