And if the groom wore that outfit, what on earth would the bride wear, we wondered?

I must admit I like the Dark Island kilt for two reasons..
I like the tartan being there... sometimes
I used to live on the Dark Island..Benbecula.

I have a kilt in the Black Isle tartan. I personal reserve it for funerals.... but don’t let me influence you..
Cheers...

I couldn't figure out when the Dark Island would look right. It makes such a dressy kilt that it would seem to be for formal evening wear, but the tartan would disappear at night. It would work for funeral attire which I may need after seeing that all white get-up!

I will admit that I really prefer the bolder, louder tartans. Luckily my mother's Boyd tartan is well in the bright "red with plenty of green" range. I have also long admired the Anderson tartan.
I will add that I think tweed kilts are pretty stylish, but I would lean towards a strong, colorful checked tweed, or even a custom-woven tartan, if I were to get a tweed kilt myself.
I think the colorful, traditional kilt looks are most becoming. However, I do think that the solid colors work well in the utility-style kilts. But that's a different thing from traditional tartan kilt wear.
