As an Austrian, then fair enough.
As a traditional Highland Scot, I would say that a Club tie would be much less expensive and in keeping with traditional kilt conventions.
Out of interest may I ask, how many of your group wear the kilt at your gatherings?

BTW - we´ve an - in Austria very famous - Kilt manufacturer and some Austrian regions have their own Tartan. And we´ve a lot of events for kilt wearers.
Well alright you asked the question and I have given you my opinion. We appear to differ, no hard feelings.

Actually I really dislike the tune of "Flower of Scotland" and I prefer Gin or Port, to whisky.

TSRalex,
I'm not sure that there is such a thing as a typical Scot but, if there is, it's not Jock!
Nor me!!

1 Once you reach such exalted ranks you are stuck with it for the rest of you life as an ex flag officer and expected to attend maybe half a dozen formal events a year, and a dozen committee meetings but they're not formal.
2, SWMBO would do the tailoring.
3, I'm not sure...
