Why don't people wear their kilts more?

Why is not more made of earlier cultures in North America? Because the few scholars who were able to decipher the patterns
made by stored acorns were abducted by aliens and today's squirrels have not bothered to keep in use the ancient lore passed
down by their forefathers. Actually not as far metaphorically from the truth as it might appear at first guffaw. I
have been told by highly respected elders around the world on various continents speaking with no hint of a smile that there
was no warfare in their history until the white man came. That despite the uncovered bodies with arrow and spear points still
in place, or skulls split open by bronze or stone implements.

Archaeological evidence of travelers from various parts of the world to North America is regularly overlooked or pooh-
poohed by those who aren't comfortable with the idea that the truth might be different than what we've grown used to
in time. Chinese junks were seen on the west coast by the first Spaniards to make excursion up Big Sur. Numerous
Roman galleys found all along the coast of South America. Roman coins wash up on the New Jersey shore. Hebrew and
Norse runes of very old style found all through North America. We don't teach it because we can't make sense of it in our
current understanding, and we're that wrong in that area, what else don't we understand? The unknown and the truth are
equally unsettling, so we mostly go with comfortable.

Facts are often met with "Shut up and go away. Nine years and a lot of work went into my degrees, and if you're right
I'm out of a job.". Or, "Wait a minute. If you're right, my ancestor was a thief and a an egomaniac. Shut up.". History
has always been mutable, depending on the needs of those telling it.

Some where it was said there is nothing new under the sun. And mostly what is not new is our desire to argue, dispute,
gnaw on dry bones, and beat dead horses. Kilt up, carry on, and enjoy the ride.

Many bad things happened in the past, but as a Canadian, although our way forward as a nation was not perfect, I would not characterise what happened here as a genocide.

I don't want to take this thread away from the topic but I wanted to go on the record as saying I completely disagree with you here. If you wish to take this discussion elsewhere, I'm agreeable. Otherwise, let's try to stick to the topic.

FB, just got email notice of your post. If that was directed at my post, apologies. My intent was exactly the opposite.
No matter how much we focus on differences, around the world across all parameters we are extremely similar. Ancient
travel evidence suggests one family, as travelers of all types tend to leave descendants scattered behind them. The
speakers of the cited comments were sober and learned spiritual teachers. The point is that our view of the past tends to focus locally, as in not big enough. The discussion on kilts and wearing them will meet acceptance and resistance, as
opinions vary.

My summation was, I thought, on subject. Reasoning goes in both directions, so kilt up, carry on, and enjoy the ride.

You are 100% correct Jock. As to outlandish, you will find many ferries, witchs, warlocks and a whole host of 'sexy' everything. You won't find any real history... for the most part. These events look more like Dungeons and Dragons come to life, minus the dragons.

I frankly don't see the harm in these events. I doubt many people go with any notions that they are experiencing real history. It's just a bit of frivolous fun, and we all probably spend/waste our money in different ways we see as enjoyable.

Now, I do see an issue with wearing a kilt to these events, especially if one were to do so incorrectly. I would not wear mine there. I appreciate how people in Scotland could see it as disrespectful.

But still, the intent at such event is just to have fun, not to cast insults.
