It's a growing thing in the Pipe Band world for bands to have bespoke tartans.
One especially sees that in Grade One bands, but even in the lower grades it's becoming more common.
At Grade One at the Worlds bands with bespoke tartans include Field Marshal Montgomery, Scottish Power, Lomond & Clyde, Simon Fraser University, and the 78th Fraser Highlanders http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...-tartan-94401/
Add to that the New Zealand Police who wear MacLeod Society Centenary.
We have two local pipe bands who wear bespoke tartans: the Salt Lake Scots
