Welcome Dana, I saw you lurking and glad you've jumped in.
You will find us a very open bunch of people here, it doesn't matter that you don't have a scottish name, (mine is English!), nor does it matter that you have a sports kilt, not does it matter that you wife dissaproves, many of us have been there.
You will find some very effective, tried and true methods here for bringing wives around to loving kilts, we have a whole team of kilted marriage guidance counsellors at your disposal, all free of charge
So ask and share what you will, hope to see more of you.

Thanks Graham, I value your comments very much. You are one of the classiest kilt wearers on this board, not to mention a fine gentleman all around.
I'm sure I'll get nothing but the best advice from everyone involved here at X Marks the Scot.

Hi Phil,
I would never want to impose on anyone by asking for a kilt. I know how much money is invested in kilts. But then again someone might be wanting to spread the kilt lifestyle. So I guess I'll give my measurements. I'd hate to deny someone that pleasure.
Waist (just below my navel) 38"
hips 40"
length 21"
So there you are.

Hmmmm, measure your waist again, this time about an inch above your belly button.

Hi Mike,
OK, so that gives me 39". But I guess that would increase the length by an inch or two.

Welcome from a Virginia kilt wearer. If you are interested in a better kilt, Bear or Rocky can fix you up with a great kilt for not a whole lot more than you paid for the sporter (I have one too)All it would take is to save your pocket change for a little while. Check out their websites.

Hi Dana!
Welome from me, too! This is a wonderful bunch of guys (well, mostly guys!).
Air National Guard, huh? Do you know that there's an unoffical U.S. Air Force tartan? It's the tartan that the US AIr Force Reserve Pipe Band wears. I'm just about to make a kilt from the tartan for my daughter (who is a piper and in Air Force ROTC), and I have a jpeg I did up for her of what it would look like pleated to the stripe:

If you're interested in where to get the tartan, just let me know!
Cheers,
Barb
