Tips on packing/prep for a nearly two week vacation
My wife and I will soon embark on the trip of a lifetime, beginning with a week-long tour through interior Alaska and finishing with a four-day cruise from Glacier Bay to Vancouver. This adventure is so far beyond the scale of any trip we've ever taken before. It is our first ever group (packaged) tour itinerary and our first cruise.
The challenge in our preparation is time vs space. We want to bring enough [all weather] clothing for nearly two weeks, yet there are specific space limitations on planes, busses, and staterooms.
I'm assuming some members here have been on similar trips and I will surely welcome any advice you can give me on proper preparation and expectations.
Thanks!

What time of the year, Cameron? Does 'soon' mean Summer or Fall?

When I've travelled with my kilt kit, I find it easier to take my box pleat 16 oz rather than the knife pleat, because there's so much less cloth. Take a modest sporran (no horse hair to pack!) one pair of versatile hose and a safety sghian or none at all to avoid local legal restrictions. A jumper is easier to pack than a jacket, but you may need a jacket depending on what you're planning to do. Shirts and ties are just... shirts and ties.
Beyond that, when you fold the kilt... well, I don't. I roll it. I've had a lot of luck rolling it and then not putting it in the suitcases, but sliding it into the case for a camera tripod which can go as a separate carry-on.
Just a few thoughts for you!

Airplane is the only real limitation. Buses, stateroom and hotels don't care. We hate the crowding and luggage limitations of airplanes, so if we must fly, we pay the extra for first class. More luggage allowed and it comes off first.
It's a fun trip, but as noted, it is hot there right now.
I too roll my kilts, but just put them in my suitcase. One 8 yard wool and one 6 yard PV and can still fit all the undergarments. But we do take two big suitcases, each.
I am kilted for formal nights on cruises.
