    I prefer plain oxfords. If cost is an issue consider Clarks. They're a fine walking shoe, comfortable for all day on your feet (I'm a bartender who regularly works doubles, so I can certify this personally) and won't break the bank. Likely cheaper than Dr. Martens.

    As others have said, ditch the idea of calf socks and go for actual hose. The "colored kilt hose" from USA Kilts holds up fine and looks great. I've got a pair that's near 3 years old and looks like new. They run about $23US a pair.
