			Cover of CAA Magazine

The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) has this as their cover this quarter:

The article is pretty banal and the only other kilt picture is Howie Nicholsby in a utilikilt that doesn't show up well in the photo.

Thought you'd be interested though, in the cover photo.

That cover photo is a perfect example of how not to put together an outfit.
What's above the waist is completely non-integrated with what's below the waist, almost as if the photo pieced together.

Yeah, Richard, my eyes sort of crossed when I looked at it. The 'plaid' shirt with check jacket is a bit of an odd choice, as is the overall brightness of the jacket and matching hat. And of course, that jacket is way too long to wear with a kilt, and was most likely taken from a complete suit or some such (perhaps a hunting outfit, given the deerstalker type hat?).
From the kilt down, though, it's not bad.

It appears, at least to my eyes, the the flashes he’s wearing are of another tartan entirely. I detect some reddish colour just beneath the cuff.

					Yup.

It is somewhat difficult to get a good impression due to the print on top of the picture but I would be interested to see jacket/waistcoat in a kilt cut.
For many who are not ' in the know' the saxon cut is what they know and expect. While looking for kilt outfit my wife had me try on a regular cut jacket just to humour her. She thought it looked fine and possibly at one time I would have agreed. I would sometimes compare it to an off the rack suit at a large retailer vs a tailored quality garment.

To my minds eye the tartan kilt looks smart, even when worn casually or with the 'wrong' jacket. Sure , there may be room to improve but it is still better than pants!

Definitely different tartan on the flashes. From the little that is visible, his sporran is a fur and leather flap semi-dress. Metal balls and chains on the tassles. Not what I would take in the field.
Hose aren't bad and kilt is at a good enough height.
