    Either is fine, but protect it from things brushing against it. A long paper bag is good, as it's breathable. If hanging, reinforce a slot at the top with strapping tape to keep it from ripping.

    As a bit of a preservationist, I would suggest that any paper that is to come in contact with your sporran be archivist quality acid free paper/card stock.

    L&M is a highly-regarded sporran maker and they offer something they describe as a "fleece sleeve" for protecting your hair sporran. They claim it will keep the hair straight when the bag is stored or carried in luggage.
