Does your pocket knife have a belt clip? If so, you can clip it onto your belt. If I'm not wearing a belt or kilt hose, I'll clip my pocket knife to the inside apron of the kilt (it's a low-profile pocket knife). If you're wearing a vest or jacket with pockets, that's another obvious option. Alternatively, inside the sporran is another good choice.
If I'm wearing kilt hose, the sgian dubh replaces the pocket knife.

I use the sghian if I need a knife, but for all the other tools, it's in my sporran.

I carry one of the smaller editions of the 'Swiss Army Knife' in my pocket at all times and whatever I am wearing. When kilted it will be in my weskit pocket on the starboard end of my watch-chain or, if I want to wear my wrist-watch instead, the knife will be in my sporran. The little knife is a utility tool , useful for all sorts of things. The sgian is regarded by most people as an ornamental weapon and hereabouts while the Law tolerates me wearing one, it frowns upon me drawing it out in public for any purpose. I frequently wear my kilt to Church and, the Law notwithstanding, I have never worn the sgian at Church because of its association with weaponry.
While I have never worn anything other than gartered hose with my kilt, I guess if I were to wear loose hose rumpled round my ankles then I simply wouldn't wear a sgian dubh, but this is not a look I have plans to experiment with.

Rlail,
Here are some options for you...
Sgain
In your kilt hose
In your sporran
On your sporran if you adapt it to hold the sgian underneath or on the side
In any other garment that has a pocket that will fit it
Pocket Knife
I will sometimes wear a folding knife in my kilt hose instead of a traditional sgian
In your sporran
On your sporran if it has pocket clip
In any other garment that has a pocket that will fit it
You have flexibility if you want to use it.

My Kilt and Sporran are enroute; that's kind of what I was thinking, that I'd find a way to attach a sheath to my blade of choice

Why would you even think of that? It's simply not culturally correct. Now I understand that culture is constantly changing, but for me, I would be much more likely to not wear a knife in my hose than to not wear hose. The knife being worn there being a relatively new fashion trend in the overarching timeline of Highland fashion.
I say this next bit with some trepidation. I am not trying to be a kilt kop, but there are just some ideas and practices that are all the result of people who did not grow up in Highland Culture, and think they can just pick and choose the parts they like and discard the rest. I find it disrespectful. No one can really stop you from doing anything you want, but no one has to force anyone else to applaud your decisions either.
Mull this over, think about what are your motivations for doing what your doing. I hope you come around to following tradition, respecting the cultural dress of, well I would hope the dress of your ancestors.........
