The glorious Colorado State Tartan!

The Colorado General Assembly passed a resolution adopting an official state tartan on March 3, 1997. The tartan is comprised of a pattern and colors that symbolize Colorado's splendor and history. The pattern or sett consists of primary blocks of forest green and cerulean blue separated by broad dividing bands of black, with the forest green checks containing two pairs of tram tracks consisting of lavender and white and with the cerulean blue checks containing a gold stripe with red guard lines.

I'm a big fan of our state tartan. I've seen it being woven at a Scottish festival and on display in a kilt (that was too small for me!) at the old Kerreen O'Connor store in Littleton. It's the next tartan I plan to get a new kilt made from...

But it's so dang elusive and rare! Any place I could find it would have to custom weave it for quite a lot more than any clan tartan.

Are you saying it would it cost more to have the Colorado state tartan woven than it would to have a clan tartan woven? Or are you saying that a custom weave of the Colorado tartan would be quite a bit more expensive than a clan tartan that’s a stock tartan?

ANY custom weave would be more expensive than any tartan stocked by the various mills — not just the “elusive Colorado state tartan.” All comes down to supply and demand.

Or am I missing something?
