And as you mentioned, postage to Australia can be the killer.

Main issue is price and availability with vintage gear.Put if you keep looking in time you get a good deal
Although the wrong colour, this one is interesting in that it's a 1950s Australian made piece for a Highland unit.

It appears to be in very good condition for its age and at the right price too.

Here's a lovely Made In Scotland traditional Day sporran, brown leather with bovine fur front, for well under $50.
Bovine fur means it should be legal to ship across international borders (this particular sporran is in the USA).
Of course shipping cost is often an issue to Australia, I understand that. I've often seen very nice vintage sporrans from Australian sellers, which would probably be ideal for you.

I myself will always prefer a Made In Scotland vintage sporran over a mass-produced Pakistani sporran.

Yip I hear you mate..When I wear the kilt I get asked a lot of question's about all the different bit of the outfit. So saying to someone and here is my sporran which was made in a sweat shop in Pakistan sits a bit uneasy.

USA Kilts has this "Economy Day Sporran" for $49. It is described as "real leather and made in Scotland."
https://www.usakilts.com/economy-day-sporran.html
I ordered a similar model from them for my son's first sporran this past summer and it is good quality, all leather, and big enough to hold his phone, wallet, and keys (but not too much else). For a few dollars more they offer versions with different closures or more decoration. The web site says they have "reasonable international shipping" rates, but you will need to contact them to see if they are reasonable enough to meet your needs. I can attest that USA Kilts provides very good quality at a fair price and their US shipping is quite fast.
When I first got involved with the kilt, I purchased a leather "Night Stalker" sporran from Stillwater Kilts. It is a good-quality sporran with a lot of cargo room, but with a traditional look. Unfortunately, they do not seem to be offering it at the moment. Also, it is made in Pakistan, so if you want a Scottish-made sporran, you will need to look somewhere other than Stillwater.
Good luck in your sporran hunt.
Andrew

Sport Kilt
When I was ordering my kilt package from Sport Kilt, I saw this sporran and ordered to on the side because it was so inexpensive (https://sportkilt.com/product/black-leather-sporran/). I see nothing wrong with it and have worn it many time. I also bought this in brown https://sportkilt.com/product/brown-...ather-sporran/, which looks great to me. I think they are the same one that everyone else sell at various prices. I doubt that Sprort Kilt is making them themselves. I'd be surprised if there wasn't someone selling the same thing in Australia for a good price. Both are a little small for all my stuff, even though I think they are a standard size. I actually prefer this:https://www.atlantakilts.com/store/s...th-cantle.html, which I think is called a piper or a hunting sporran, due to the lack of tassels. The cantle give me a little extra room. Technically I think it is considered a semiformal sporran, but I haven't been arrested wearing during the day, yet.
I am new to kilt wearing but reading this thread, I thought my input might be helpful. Corrections or additions are welcome. Those vintage sporrans look awesome! I'm sure I will be getting one sooner or later.

I would jump on that L&M Highland Outfitters sporran that MacCathmhaoil references. You can't get better quality than that.
Yes that USA Kilts Scottish-made sporran is at an amazing price. The eternal skeptic in me would like to see a photo of the back to see the Made In Scotland stamp. (Evidently I need to download additional software to view USA Kilt's videos direct from the USA Kilts site, I will check to see if they have the same videos on YouTube.)
Your $50 limit, if it includes shipping, is challenging to meet at the moment on Ebay.
If you go up just a tad, to the $60 to $70 range, there are loads of genuine Royal Regiment Of Scotland dark brown leather Day sporrans (No2 Dress) some with the RRS badges, some plain. These are nicely made very sturdy leather sporrans for a very low price considering the quality.
But under $50 including shipping, currently there's just the brown leather Day sporran with bovine fur body (under $40) from a USA seller and a quite plain brown leather sporran (under $20) from a UK seller; this latter sporran isn't stamped but it has the look of a vintage Scottish-made sporran.
There have been times when there have been several nice Made In Scotland sporrans for that $50-with-shipping price.
