Post Office shipping deal
Hey kiltmakers--
Thought I'd share this with you: The post office now has a "fixed price" Priority Mail garment box. You can ship anywhere in US, regardless of weight, for the fixed price of $7.70. It will save you a few bucks if you are shipping to the opposite coast.
Here's a link for more info:

Hope this helps you guys out. Sorry, Bear, but I guess it doesn't work for Canada!
Peace,

Thanks Jeff! That should save Kelly and I few bucks shipping to CA or Alaska. We use the post office for the FREE BOXES (I assume you know about that) that get delivered to our door once a month.
Which box is the "garment box"? We use the "tubes" (long triangle box) for kilts and 3" deep rectangle boxes for multiple item orders.
If anyone else cares... my 2 bits about the post office. We have been shipping Priority mail since day 1 of the company and only had 1 mistake (a package being delivered to the wrong house and then being re-delivered 3 weeks later). The give you FREE Boxes and are pretty darn cheap. They win my business hands down.

Up here in Canada I use the post office service exclusively. I have found a large plastic envelope with bubble wrap inside. It works well with my kilts that I ship. The plastic is durable and the built in bubble wrap protects the kilt. The envelope comes with a pre-glued flap that really sticks!!
The post office has available a venture card for small business that gives a discount for shiupping or upgrades to the next level.
I have experienced one problem in a shipment overseas but they fixed it.
So far it works for me.
However wish I could get a 9.95 deal here that would be a bonus.
Cheers

Yep, Rocky, the main reason I've stuck with Priority Mail is for the free boxes! Now that I can print out labels online and have my regular mail carrier pick them up, this method wins hands down.
The "garment boxes" are roughly 12x13x3 inches. You can request them online, and they'll deliver them in packs of 25, right to your door. After I experimented a little, I found a way to fold the kilts so that they fit pretty nicely.

Jeff,
I guess I'm using the "Garment boxes" already... and I do get them delivered (big box of 25) once a month. Pretty damn convenient. Again... thanks for the tip!

THANK YOU gentlemen for using the post office to ship.
I live in a small town where the post office doesn't deliver the mail, we all have post office boxes and trek to the post office to pick up our mail.
The good news is that keeps our packages safe.
For some reason the United Parcel drivers just leave packages on my porch for the neighbor kids to steal.
The USPS vs. UPS wars rival Coke and Pepsi. I ran shipping departments for years and can't believe some companies insist on only one way of shipping rather than meeting their customer's needs.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for enlightened customer service.

I very much appreciate USPS for domestic shipping, but a package I recently sent to the UK was lost.
There is no tracking information (as I sent it Global Priority instead of Express, stupid me) and it is now 6 weeks overdue.
I filed the form for international inquiry a month ago, but still no word.
Looks like I'll be eating this one.....

In the course of my little home biz I use the USPS exclusively, Priority Mail whenever possible. I have shipped out nearly 2000 packages over the past three years and have only had one package become lost. This was an airmail to Croatia. I had two other domestic packages become waylaid because of post office confusion over forwarding to temporary addresses. I consider that a very good track record for any shipping company.
By the way, Mr. Jeff, I haven't forgotten about my Olive PK. I'll be by to pick it up soon and will celebrate the rites of Festivus with you at that time. Let the feats of strength begin!
