It shipped from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is stamped WPG inside. I am confident that it came directly from What Price Glory's actual warehouse. If you buy from their website, I would not expect anything different in what you receive.
Curious, as the UAE is nominally a desert environment.

Does the WPG have the embossed 42 on the flap?

Yes the WPG tassels are a mess. The should be in two ranks, the upper rank with two, the lower rank with three.

And the leather itself is all wrong, but that can be dyed easily enough.

Unfortunately this is the only reproduction of the WWI leather sporrans that I am aware of. I have nudged USAKilts to get a proper reenactor line set up, will have to be more blatant.
The only stampings are on the inside of the flap: W.P.G. Montreal 1915. Nothing relating to the 42nd.
I will have to dismount, swap and trim the tassels to get the 100% correct look. Weirdly, it looks just like the picture in their website. So either I have the one they actually photographed, or they are all made with strangely incorrect tassels.

L&M might do it. They make sporrans for the Canadian military.

They might need on to go by, or at least good photos.

The white crud came off easily with warm water, soap and judicious scrubbing. One liberal application of Neats foot compound later the color is much better than the raw leather it was.
The tassels are still not right, but that is a project for later.
