When you have too much stuff for a sporran

Most sporrans will hold about as much stuff as you can fit in the front pocket of your jeans. I don't like to wear or see a sporran bulging at the seams. What solutions are there when you need to carry phone, wallet, keys, inhaler, camera, reed scraping tools, tuner, "Greatest Hits of Elvis, vol. 1", etc., etc.?
Minimalist wallets can help save some space, but I see people wearing kilts with a synthetic back pack slung over their shoulder. It makes me cringe. It is almost as bad as wearing a baseball cap with a kilt. If you're going to spend that much money on an kilted outfit why ruin the look with a cheap back pack (or baseball cap)?
I have my own ideas, but would like to hear from others to see where the conversation might go.
    What are your thoughts?

If it’s a dressier event, you have jacket pockets. You can also learn to leave some stuff at home. Finally, there’s a thing called a “Piper’s Pouch” that hangs neatly on your belt.

Of the three, I prefer the seond choice.

    Would something like this work?

    https://www.usakilts.com/belt-pouch-large.html

I can't say I've had too big of a problem with sporran space when I'm wearing a tartan kilt. When I need more space is usually when I wear a utility kilt, and the clip-on side pockets are great for holding screws, tape measures, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc. That said, were I to need more space in a tartan kilt context, I would think the same general concept of a clip-on pouch would work well, and can be easily detached when not needed.

That's exactly what I was referring to. L & M makes them in several sizes and styles shown here and listed in Canadian dollars: https://www.landmhighland.ca/ecommer...ct,p_sku,page/

Freedom Kilts, in their bricks-n-mortar days, carried an excellent sporran that carried pretty well everything you list. Perhaps Steve will chime in here.

In the meanwhile: wallet, mobile, coin purse are all I carry in my sporran. Handkerchief (and sometimes the mobile and coins) in my jacket pockets. Keys tucked into the kilt waistband.

My Carry-All Sporran was one of those "labors of love" that was a really good idea, that I spent a lot of time fine tuning and perfecting.

But the sporran makers of the world just did not want to consider it.

One sporran maker just cancelled the entire project without warning or notice. I went to order more one day and they said "We have decided it is not traditional enough."

Another maker kept my cutting dies for over a year and a half. They never produced a single sporran and all I ever got out of them was "We will get to it when we have time".

While the Carry-All was designed to look from the outside just like a traditional day sporran -

There was a hidden pocket in the flap perfect for my business card case.

When you opened the flap there was a second pocket underneath for things like a tobacco pouch, a pad of paper etc.

Inside the main compartment was a cell phone pocket, a pen holder and a key ring snap.

Everything in this photo fit in the one sporran.

I wore my own personal Carry-On Sporran almost every day for over 5 years before the first hint of wear.

You can see it in many of the photos I have posted over the years.

I am not a leather worker and don't have a walking foot machine.
But would have loved to find someone who was capable of producing a quality product to a very unique design. Would anyone on the forum who is a leather worker like a side project? I have the clicker cutting dies.
Response here or not, I'll keep looking.

Steve's Carry All sporrans are an excellent way to carry extra stuff. I've had one for several years and it is my "go too" sporran for most non-formal occasions. I would have bought at least one more, but Steve has explained why that was not possible.

The only time I really come up against the limited capacity of a sporran is in my role as pipe major of a pipe band, when I need to carry at least my wallet, phone, electronic tuner, all-purpose Swiss knife, kleenex (I suffer from allergies), a couple of reeds in a small container, and a small roll of hemp. The band sporran, an excellent L & M hunting-style with a leather flap instead of a chrome cantle, just can't handle all that stuff and we rarely wear jackets, so those pockets are usually not available (bulging jacket pockets are unsightly, in any case). The solution was once again one of Steve's innovations: a band kilt with pockets. I carry my wallet in the under-apron pocket which has a velcro closure, my kleenex in one side pocket and my electronic tuner in the other. My phone, knife and everything else fit nicely in my limited capacity band sporran with no unsightly bulging.

With the exception of the 'zip', I always thought this was a pretty trad-looking sporran.

Definitely the design of an engineer but, despite that, terribly practical

Boy, Steve, I would have loved to be able to buy one of those. If you do find someone to produce them, please let me know. Your sporran has some striking similarities to the way the sporran I have for my utility kilt is laid out (makes me wonder if maybe yours was used as inspiration):

    https://store.stillwaterkilts.com/survivalsporran.html

But, of course, yours is much less informal. And undoubtedly less covered in paint and anti-seize stains than my SWK one. Would be great to be able to organize everything when I'm wearing a tartan kilt like I can when I'm wearing my utility kilt.
