I had thought something similar when I first saw him. Actually, I thought he was wearing it sideways. Fortunately, the show won all seven awards for comedy. That gave me a lot more time to look . My wife's comment about the longer length in the back dissuaded me from my first opinion. Right back to my first opinion, " What an odd look" . Then again, most non-kilt wearers likely think the same of us.

I remember once upon a time, seeing a picture of an all-around pleated kilt on this forum. Can not find it now, but found a picture of Sir Alexander Macdonald, 1744 - 1795 with the help from Google: https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/417779302924760820/

So it is not unknown to have pleats in the front of the kilt.
So, could this new take be seen as a newborn invention of the all-around pleated kilt?

Anyway, the gray kilt-suit(?) looks good. Well, the socks kind of ruin the impression

Saw this posted up on Facebook yesterday.
Who ever designed this was trying to be artsy, but to me it rings of all kinds of wrong. Almost like they watched USA kilts' Q&A on their nightmare kilt outfit.
As OCR said, the kilt and jacket have good fabric, but the execution...

I'd wondered myself if it was a kilt mis-worn or gone askew. Having also done a wee search on the designer, I'll echo Lady Grey to note that the designer site calls it a skirt. So, not a kilt at all.
The all around pleating is certainly different, though different makes the mark of many designers. Time will tell if one male celebrity it a skirt transitions to wear on the street any more than than celebrities in kilts have.

Far be it to say i am an expert on kilts , but to my knowledge kilts do not have pleats in the front , period. It's a man in a skirt.

There are always exceptions to the rule. But i think most here on x marks the spot would agree that kilts don't have pleats in the front.

It is definitely a skirt, not a kilt. As other rabble have said, nice tailoring and fabric. Not what I would wear, but I don't mind the skirt so much a the socks. What was he thinking?!!
