I love the pipes, myself.
My son is a drummer and he thinks that pipers are thick. (I know a fair bit about music and I don't buy that drummer's propaganda).
Anyway, the Transvaal, Khyber pass and various other bleak places on Earth have bleaching drones sticking out of the ground here and there. You can't get much braver than leading an infantry advance playing the pipe. The last time that our army was led into battle by a piper (to my knowledge) was in Normandy in 1944. The attack fared about the same as a charge at Culloden :
