Hey, Rigged, you still doing these? If so, I'll show up at a couple of 'em once the proper-sized Stillwater comes in. I live up in Menlo Park.

Hey Rigged,
I'm nowhere near Sunnyvale, or California for that matter. But I do like the idea of having a get-together in a non-bar setting. I'm not into the bar scene and I'm sure there are other people out there that feel the same way.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Some guys complained that they couldn't get down to Sunnyvale. Fair enough. I found a place in Fremont along the BART line. Some folks have families or aren't into the bar scene (or don't drink booze), so I found a place where we can all hang out and relax. For those who want to drink alcohol, there are places nearby that serve it.
I'll be at Sunny's Cafe Coffee/Deli. It's in the mall across the street from the Fremont BART station. They serve coffee drinks, frappes, smoothies, ice cream, sodas, hot and cold sandwiches, breakfast bagels, muffins and stuff like that.
The address is 39180 Paseo Padre Parkway.
Their hours are 7am to 7pm on weekdays, but the young lady that runs the place told me she'd keep the place open later for us - till 9pm. I'll be there around 6pm.
If you're driving, it's 880 and east at the Mowry exit. Make a right on Paseo Padre Parkway. The cafe is to the left just past the entrance to the NAZ 8 Cinema. There's plenty of free parking.

I met Mark at Sunny's Cafe this evening. Very nice fellow. I promised him a "Grand Tour" of the S.F. Bay Area when he comes back again and has more time. That offer stands for any of you who come to visit.

Wednesdays, still? I can't come tonight but I'll see if I can't drop by another night. This will conflict with the Kings Head night, which from their website seems to have moved to Wednesdyas. However, I can't do music EVERY night, so Ill drop by now and again.

Northern SFBA get together
Is there anyone interested in doingt a kilt night in the north bay. I live in Marin County and driving down to the Santa Clara area on a week night is just too far.
There are a couple of brew pubs in Marin and there is always the city although I try to avoid the city when ever possible.

Hmmm, if I were able, I would jump at the chance to go into the city. To head directly for the Buena Vista and enjoy an Irish Coffee or two. Or three...

My wife and I will be planning a trip to San Francisco within the next couple months. I would love to see who might be able to get together. I'll let you all know when I have a more concrete date.

Bone Home Town.. more info.
I work on Wednesday nights and cannot make it down to Sunnyvale or over to Fremont for the events Rigged has set up. I am hoping this new idea will not replace those longstanding gatherings, but add a new option or alternative for those that may be farther away, or work Wednesdays, like me..
I have added information in this forum (and the Kilture SFBA Yahoo! Group) on the Bone Home Town Events. These are usually hosted at family-friendly places that serve food, drink and at least beer, for those that are so inclined. Generally, the events are music and food oriented and not alcohol-oriented, but you do have it there if you want it.
The events move all round the Bay Area and feature live local bands that play great classic rock covers and original work. Some also feature stand-up comedians, celebrities, photo opportunities. It really varies. They usually have some killer food and drink specials as well as raffles, drawings, charity stuff and live coverage on the radio.
I was the only kilted person (that I know of) at the last event (in Menlo Park on Friday from Noon to 6 pm). The next one is from 6 pm to Midnight on Friday, 5/27, at the Utah Hotel Saloon in SF (unfortunately, I'll be out of town), but I'll keep posting these great events and hopefully we can make these into a regular thing for the kilted crowd.
Right now they are happening once a week. The freqency seems to vary throughout the year. As long as The Bone is setting it all up and bringing a portable party around the Bay for us, we might as well take advantage of it! The crowd is very cool, laid back and everyone is just there to have a good time.
