Know any suppliers for square horn buttons?

Not a big fan of metal square buttons, but like the square shape on my tweed jacket.

looking for something like this: https://bennosbuttons.com/hn-4060-sq...quare%20button

    thanks!

If you’re looking for something a little more traditional, you might be interested in this thread: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...buttons-96126/

Bear in mind that you’ll need two sizes: the larger for the jacket closure and the smaller for epaulets, cuffs and pocket flaps. It may be a challenge to find square horn/antler buttons in the correct sizes.

Good luck and I’ll be curious to see what you end up with!

the tweed jacket is a balmoral doublet like this; I know the waistcoat takes smaller half inch size buttons but aren’t the gauntlet cuffs buttons & tashes buttons on this type of jacket same size as the front closure? (So basically all buttons on the doublet same size?)

I don’t have a doublet, but on all of my Argyll jacket/waistcoat combinations, all of the decorative buttons (epaulets, cuffs, pocket flaps) are of the smaller size. Only the jacket closure buttons are the larger size.

In the photo of the doublet, the buttons on the cuffs and tashes seem a bit outsized to my eye, but you may well disagree.

I took a cue from McMurdo’s Wildcat tartan kilt suit and had my tartan Argyll/waistcoat set up for interchangeable buttons, so that I could wear antler buttons for daytime or more casual events, and the traditional square silver buttons for dressier occasions. Perhaps something to consider.

interestingly, on historical examples, we see buttons on said cuffs & pockets the same ligne.

it seems that cuff buttons in particular seem smaller in the crail ones?

Judging from the buttons on Matt’s doublet, they do all seem to be the same size, except on the waistcoat: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...69/index3.html
