Different colors for Sherriff Muir jacket and vest
In about 12 weeks I will be getting my custom "Angels Share" tartan kilt, comes in 13 ounce wool. Also getting an extra long (63") tie for guys like me with big necks.
I was thinking about an "Angles Share" vest, there isn't enough material left for a jacket.
My thought was to get a Sherriff Muir jacket, anything but black. The tartan has 7 colors but I immediately discard the white and yellow colors. There is blue, indigo and brown that mixes in the tartan, as well as ochre and amber.
I think a custom color using brown and amber (gold) would look great, or a lighter brown or blue.
With a vest I can wear it with Argyle coats, even a PC.
Anyone have ideas I can use or photos of better colors of jackets.

You might consider not trying to match a color in the kilt at all. Blues and greens seem to be the most popular alternatives. You might also consider one in velvet. Velvet is sometimes seen in Highland Formal Wear, although mostly with PCs or regulation doublets.

These are the two threads I revisit often.

I am a fan of the Russet and Old Oaken Gold.
A tweed in Russet- with old gold or blue would able to worn alone, with other Tartans, and with a jacket

You can email the designer for the exact color way used and possibly same threads so you can coordinate your choice. He might even have a grand few ideas for you.

If it were me, I think I'd pick a warm color to pair best with that tartan - a nice brown would likely be my choice. However, I've never seen a Sherriffmuir in anything other than black, green, or purple. I suppose one could have one made in an amber, or gold color, if one found an appropriate shade of barathea and a tailor willing to work with it.

I'm going to go the opposite way.
What my mind's eye instantly conjured up at first light of that tartan was a rich deep blue.
To take a step back, think of all the flags that use red and blue, the Christmas colours green and red, all the US States and Universities that use gold and blue, how often you see men wear red ties with their dark blue suits, the huge number of tartans that have a red/green or red/blue base, and so on.
Think on the original Highland regimental uniform, which paired and blue & green tartan with red jackets, and the continued wearing of red & white diced hose with said tartans.
What do all these things have in common? The juxtaposition of a warm colour upon a cool colour.
The tartan in question here is overwhelmingly warm, glowing amber, like autumn leaves. Rather than pair it with more of the same, I would go cool, specifically blue. (True that black goes with anything, being a non-colour, thus black would of course look good.)
Why blue? Blue and orange/amber/gold are complimentary colours and always work well together. But that's theory stuff. My mind's eye saw blue immediately.
Here's a quick visual, a dark blue Prince Charlie with Angel's Share
