It's sad, there seems to be someone hell bent on stripping out any vestiges of historical regiments in the name of 'modernisation' whilst ignoring the fact that esprit du Corp plays a key part in maintaining a soldier's morale during the toughest times. Everything you say is true, but the British Army has changed, adjusted, amalgamated, re-named, re-badged assorted Regiments many times before and no doubt will do it again and again. Its the way it goes sometimes.
