    It's sad, there seems to be someone hell bent on stripping out any vestiges of historical regiments in the name of 'modernisation' whilst ignoring the fact that esprit du Corp plays a key part in maintaining a soldier's morale during the toughest times. It can be dressed up as cost saving and modernisation but I'll bet the saving is minimal and the same individuals who claim scrapping historical regiments or their vestiges is modernisation would be up in arms if anyone tried to strip the guards brigade of their busbies and tunics...

    Everything you say is true, but the British Army has changed, adjusted, amalgamated, re-named, re-badged assorted Regiments many times before and no doubt will do it again and again. Its the way it goes sometimes.
