I had on grey hose, although they look green in the picture, and blue flashes. The boots are from Thursday Boot Company. The kilt pin is a replica Anglo-Saxon broach I bought from an Etsy seller. I'm a little worried that my hose were too high, but otherwise, I'm enjoying this being killed more than for special occasions thing.
Looks good!
I think the hose are fine, and the level of flash exposure is good - just enough. 2-3 fingers below the kneecap seems to be the general rule of thumb. Some of my hose sit higher than others, and also if I pull too hard they stretch a bit more, and the hose sit higher. I usually just roll them a bit more then, but that can look off if you have a particularly ornate cuff.

It’s been a bit.
Neither of these were a Friday, but still seems a good thread to post to. These were from a business trip to Amsterdam last week.

So it was technically a kilted Saturday, but I took my good friend out for a dinner with a group of friends in celebration of his upcoming wedding. He and I were both kilted, him in Henderson and me in American Legacy, to go to a local Scottish pub that as a bonus gives you your first beer for free if you're kilted. We were also pleased to get several compliments on the kilts coming and going.
It was a pleasant surprise to find a tartan day celebration happening when we arrived, so there was a big contingent of kilted patrons. The one thing that was a bit bothersome is that of the few gentlemen wearing jackets with their kilts, they were all wearing regular sport coats rather than a proper kilt jacket. The look is absolutely terrible! I don't consider myself particularly picky about the finer details, but a long jacket covering up so much of the kilt and interfering with the sporran is just so sloppy. I was too polite to say anything, but, ugh.

I attended a Highland Games this past summer, for the first time in some years. I was, frankly, embarrassed by the great number of men walking around in kilts with no idea how to wear them. In such cases, I think its best to simply be the change you'd like to see in the world. After all, I too wore kilts for many years while having little idea of "how to wear them," and looking really good is often the best way to get the point across.

I very much agree. To their credit, those involved in the tartan day celebration were wearing their kilts correctly, which is obviously the most important element, it was just a few who didn't properly accessorize. I was casual for the evening, it was a pub night for my group, but had I been in a jacket it would have been a proper Argyll that doesn't interfere with the kilt!

Tartan Day Adventures
Not much of an adventure today. I had made plans to get together with other kilties at a local pub in the evening, only to realize I had a zoom call that I couldn't miss. I was still kilted though. Nothing special just a USAK casual in Scottish National tartan with a Clan Urquhart kilt pin, a Seattle Seawolves Major League Rugby jacket, and underneath a new Scottish Gaelic leine-t or t-shirt. Also included is Milie, a truly fierce warrior hound.
The shirt. The translation is "people...no, whisky....yes"

Today was my "new" jacket; still need to get some more steam on the cuffs where they were let down and get a replacement antler button.

May I ask where did you find that sporran? I really like it.

It was a vintage find a few years ago; definitely a great addition to my collection.

A little thrown together - being invited at quite literally the last minute to black tie dinner by brother whilst visiting family in the UK last week. The only thing of mine is the kilt (a recent purchase from Slanj with a healthy promo discount), the shirt was from a hire company and everything else borrowed (mainly from my brother - hence his choice of DJ - although he has a hang up about his skinny legs when kilted).
