What is this thing on my new sporran?

I just received my new Margaret Morrison hunting sporran from Scottish Trading Company, and I have a question. What is this detachable thing inside the sporran? I assume it's a keyring, but wanted to make sure. The MM website doesn't say.

I think you'll find that it is attached by a dome/snap fastener so that you can attach your keys and not have them fall to the bottom of the sporran and be difficult to find. I DO have an alternative; if you don't like that one I'll take some pictures and show you but this is a good one.

That is what I figured. If you have an alternative I would like to know what it is.

I got these at the locksmith's. They're smooth enough to do no damage if you're careful, and easy to remove and re-place the keys. If they fall off, they're already in the sporran, and it consumes little space.

As you see, I just slide them onto the gusset where they're practically invisible in normal use.

When I designed my Carry-All sporran years ago, along with all the different pockets and storage options, I made it a point to include a key ring that snapped to the inside.

The idea was, that even fully loaded, the sporran looked normal from the outside.

My Margaret Morrison Hunting sporran came with that internal keyring too.

About sporran capaciousness, my Edwardian-cantled goathair sporran is hard to beat.

About the MM reproduction of the Duke's sporran (right) I find it curious that what appears to be a Celtic Cross motif is tilted 45 degrees:

Every time I see these pictures I'm heartbroken that this never became available.

I guess that depends on whether you look at the tooled knots or the straight cross between them.

Yes there's that vase/face positive space/negative space thing.

    Here's what I see:

And were I to order that style from Margaret Morrison I would ask them to rotate their stamp 45 degrees.

Why on earth would you want to rotate the stamp 45 degrees? I cannot say that I am enthused with that style of sporran or the tooling, but what is so important about the 45 degrees? Just wondering.
