I managed to sneak between the heavy showers stepped out right after the first downpour passed... I beat the second one by about 50 feet! Not bad for a gimpy old guy! Shoes stayed dry except for the soles....

A kilted Thursday adventure. A whisky pairing dinner, three courses, and three whiskies, what's not to like? Doing a very casual look with my new USA Kilts semi-trad in Kilts and Culture tartan. The high was 97F/36C so the less worn the better. I have recently realized that my kilts are too short. They come to around my knees, but the tops are at my waist, not 2" above the waist. Not a big deal with PV kilts, but I will have to be more careful measuring for future kilts.

Well yes your kilts are cut short if you want to “dress them up” , but then they are in reality casual kilts. It is easy to dress down a traditional style kilt but it almost impossible to “dress up” the style of kilt that you are wearing. It’s a “horses for courses “ type thing, a long bodied pullover might get you by in some circumstances though.

Who is being kilted Friday July 1st?

240 years ago, the ban on men wearing highland clothing was removed. Celebrate the freedom and a bit of obscure history. Wear your kilt!

I am thinking the MacDonald of the Isles Hunting Ancient for tomorrow... They were a rowdy bunch and deserve recognition! ;-)

In remembrance of the repeal of the Highland Dress Act of 1 July 1782 that made in legal again for Highlander males to wear Highland Dress (kilts) in the Highlands after being banned for 35 years after the battle of Culloden. I'm wearing a USA Kilt 5-yarder in the Black Stewart tartan. I had lunch with a past BOD President of a HOA that I had managed before retirement, who committed; "it's good to see you in uniform."

I wore my kilt to the Royal Canadian Legion for Canada Day.

    Didn't everybody?
Those ancient U Nialls from Donegal were a randy bunch.
