Other garment sizes are usualy not helpful when it comes to getting a kilt to fit properly.
It should be remembered that the kilt is worn higher and tighter on the body than trousers - especially modern jeans - it it may feel odd or unnatural at first.
The only way to do get a good kilt-fit is to get an accurate measurement around your natural waist - but be warned, it might shock you..!
