Sorry I didn’t run into you guys on Friday.
@plaid preacher I was wandering around for the day, but I have no idea what you look like. Unfortunately looking for a guy in a kilt was a bit futile. LOL. There were a lot of kilts on display, even amongst the spectators.

@Patty Logan I dropped by the clan building a few times, but could see your table. I hope you were able to attend.

@Lallans it was a great day. Got to watch a number of event for both women and men. One of the guys broke a caber LOL. There was a really good turn out of people, and I suspect there will be a lot more today. I hope you are able to get out there today and enjoy it.

I did pick up a new PV kilt for $99 (I’ll post it in a new thread) at the TheScottish and Irish Store tent. Great guy to talk with.

I hope everyone that gets down over there today has a great time.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it today.
There were a bunch of clan booths set up in the Clan building, as well as some events in the clan tent right outside.

Back from the Games myself to see that my old site history has been restored but with the new user name, so many thanks to the mod or owner who did that. Who likes being a newbie, LOL?

There were more clan tables set up than I remember seeing before, all of them nicely presented. The only disappointment of the day was that the fact food people whose operation sold haggis and chips with mushy peas wasn't there. I always ate there but didn't always have the haggis, mind, sometimes it was just fish and chips, but the thing is it was Scottish junk food, not hot dots and burgers etc.

Thanks for the information, I've heard of the "Glengarry Games" and the "Maxville Games" for many years but I didn't know they were the same thing.

Piping Championships meaning Pipe Band Championships, Solo Piping Championships, or both?

I know that sometimes bands here in the US southwest will choose to go to Maxville rather than The Worlds in Glasgow.

BTW it would be great if you all could post photos. I really like vicariously experiencing Highland Games around the world. It's fascinating to see the similarities and differences.

Richard, there are both band competitions and solo events for pipers and drummers.

Looking back at this year's Maxville games, I have to say that I don't remember ever seeing crowds as large as were there on the Saturday- or is it that I've forgotten what crowds are like, lol? I suppose people were starved for such events after the 2 year covid layoff- they certainly were starved for food because the lineups at the food trucks were epic- but hopefully interest will remain strong. Unless crowds are your thing, oldtimers will tell you it's best to go on the first day though, I suspect that'll be my tactic from now on.
