Drumming up Interest: Glenorchy Type Reweave
I wanted to see if anyone was interested in joining me for a reweave of the Glenorchy Type tartan that Peter MacDonald had researched and recreated under his guidance by Locharron in 2021. At the moment I am trying to build up interest as there needs to be a fair amount of yardage committed before it is worthwhile to take on the risk of the project. I have spoken with Peter about doing it and it is going to take at least a year before we can begin the project. I would need a year before I could financially commit myself to the project so in the meantime I wanted to see if anyone on here would be interested in joining the list. I have included photos taken by Peter with his permission and attach a link to his paper on the tartan. It is a very special piece and I know I am not the only one who wishes that they had got in on the first run.

I was in on the first run and have more yardage than I know what to do with - although I'm sure I'll figure it out at some point. I can vouch for the beauty of this tartan. Peter did a cracking job of researching it and working up the sett for modern weaving in an authentic colourway. The triple herringbone selvedge is particularly nice. Below is a photo of the selvedge (on top of some of my other tartan from the same mill). Lovely. Just lovely. If you do find enough partners to do a second run, you'll not be disappointed.

Re: Glenorchy Type Reweave
Indeed, I was thinking about this particular tartan just the other day. I believe that I would be interested in enough material for a kilt, at least.

I am tentatively on board for this, Assuming this would be single width, I'll commit to 9 yards.

Do we have a rough idea of the math?

It would depend on the minimum order but likely to be £40 per metre, same as the last run.

Well, sign me up when the time comes! Are we really looking at a year or so?
