    Alright I took out half the lines and it's still busy.

    There were many ways to go, what I did is not pay attention to the structure of Royal Stewart but just simplify what was in front of me.

    Thanks! There's something that bothers me about the original that in spite of my simplification is still present in my version.

    I can't quite put my finger on it.

    Richard,

    I know what you mean. To my eye the white bisecting the blue doesn't work and makes the pattern still look too busy. The Royal Stewart base is already a complex pattern and adding more to it can be tricky not to unbalance it.

    Changing the shades helps. Here it is in shades closer to Wilsons'.
