    What is best Balmoral option now that Mackie not available

    Since Mackie has stopped making the Balmoral and all old stock in my size seems to be gone; what is next best option and where can they be purchased? I am looking for black no dicing 63 cm or 7 7/8.

    I would suggest that until House of Tartan is up and running, look at Glengarry hats http://www.glengarryhats.com/ out of Canada. I've bought from them and their prices are reasonable and products of good quality.

    I have two from them, and the difference from Mackey is hard to spot. The price difference is easier to find.

    Perhaps? Perhaps the best option might be not wearing a balmoral at all? Before anyone chokes on their toast at the very thought of not doing so, think on. How many visitors to Scotland have actually seen the “normal kilted man in the street” .....is there such a thing?.......actually wear one? Yes alright, bandsmen might, those that attend a Clan gathering might, but everyday wear? Not often. No wonder they are not being produced anymore, there is no profit in producing them.
