In Canada, all ranks wear the same uniform, the accoutrements are different. There is nothing stoping a civilian wearing the suit, as long as it has no insignia, rank nor markings (and they don’t claim to be military). Once out, even veterans are not allowed to were the uniform again. I still have mine in the closet though.
