Richmond Highland Games
Since there is a mechanical problem with our travel trailer, my wife and I will not be going to the Charlestown SC games and running our tartan information tent. So we have decided to go north instead. Will be attending (as actual visitors) the Richmond Highland Games on November 4 & 5, 2023 at Dorey Park and Recreation Center, 2999 Darbytown Rd Henrico, VA 23231.

Allen and Mael, will you be attending?

@carolinanan117 and I traveled to Beaufort, NC last weekend for the Crystal Coast Highland Games. That's the end of our Games until next year. Stop by the Clan Sinclair tent and tell Alison Sinclair we said hello. Have fun, and we'll see ya'll next year!

I just looked at the EUSPBA results page for 2022 and I don't see Richmond listed.
Do they not have a sanctioned Pipe Band competition?

The Games were not held last year, so there would be no results for 2022. The racetrack where they used to be held signed an exclusive contract with a new food and beverage vendor a couple of years ago. You can't have a Games without food and beverages, so they had to find a new venue.

Ah. Thanks!
I checked further back on the EUSPBA results page, which reveals an interesting history between the Richmond Games and EUSPBA.
EUSPBA-sanctioned Pipe Band contests were held at the Richmond Games from 2004 to 2008. (The results page only goes back to 2004.)
From 2009 to 2015 no sanctioned Pipe Band contests were held at Richmond.
Then sanctioned contests were again held from 2016 to 2019, however with a dwindling number of bands.
2016 had 10 bands, 2017 had 7 bands, and 2018 and 2019 had 5 bands apiece.
2019 was the last year Richmond had a EUSPBA-sanctioned Pipe Band contest. Covid or no Covid, it's hard to justify the expense of flying in and paying EUSPBA judges for only 5 bands.
