A new Balmoral tartan for the public?

An interesting news article popped up in my news feed today.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...al-tartan.html

As I understand it, the new Balmoral tartan is currently being designed and would be available for the public to purchase. Aside from the usual nonsense about using colours that reflect the landscape and other such fanciful pretexts for the design, there's no indication of what it will actually look like.

The existing Balmoral tartan would, presumably, remain restricted.

    Likewise.

The article is confusing. At some points it reads like the tartan is already designed.

Balmoral Estate’s and Araminta Campbell’s mutual respect for the environment and natural world is ingrained into each element of this tartan,
    Then elsewhere...

Inspiration for the design will be taken from the landscape of the 50,000-acre estate where the monarch spends his summers.

Presumably it will be based on the "restricted Balmoral tartan" or will it be a whole different design all together and named Balmoral 2 a fashion tartan.

No, it's based on the Hunting Stewart.

I've seen it and am not overly impressed. And yes, the Balmoral tartan remains restricted.

    Is this it?

The King was said to have debuted the tartan at the Braenar Highland Games.

No, that's the King Charles III tartan and is restricted solely for His Majesty.

I had to look Araminta Birse-Stewart up.

Here are some of her designs (I hesitate to call them "tartans").

Her handwoven scarves are 1500 pounds.
