Travel with a kilt

Isn't there a way to fold a kilt into a suitcase?

I watched a video where they showed the process of folding a kilt so that is an option, however, my sense is it will leave a line.

My best sense from this thread is my wife and I consolidate our carry on's, I get a kilt carrier and leave my sgian dubh at home.

May also.get a ki!t pin that won't be hassled by TSA.

Wool will be fine, any creases will drop out (although I can't say I have noticed any when I have folded mine) - PV maybe not so much.

I've never noticed any creasing problems with kilts I've packed (sometimes shipping them, meaning they spend several days in packed configuration). Usually I roll them (as you would for a kilt roll) then slip a nylon stocking over them. Am I doing something wrong?

In today's sardine seating on planes there's no more comfortable way to fly than kilted. Storage problem solved.

Just make sure your kilt pin is one with short pins rather than the long pin that comes with the sword look kilt pins

Learned a trick about flying in a Utilikilt - go through the metal detector sideways so only a few snaps at a time are being scanned.

Usually fly in a USA Kilt polyviscose, but have also flown in 16 ounce hand sewn top of the line kilts.

For maximum comfort get a black cotton half slip to wear under the kilt to protect the kilt while still having the comfort of FREEDOM in those sardine seats.

And no sporran...wear a vest to carry what you'd normally carry in a sporran...like a photographers vest.

Does TSA hassle long pins? I just acquired a kilt pin that does not look like a sword and has square ends to avoid.being hassled, However it has a long pin on back. It is a nice piece of jade jewelry that I would hate to lose.
