WOAH!! That is way outta my league.. I’m watching the one that was on OC Richards posts a few posts up, but I fear it will shortly go out of my budget. It’s happened on the last several that I saw mentioned here. But I did luck out and get one..

For those who missed the bidding, it sold yesterday at auction in Glasgow - for the bargain price of £3,800..!

So how is that a sporran for less money, you ask.

Simple. It is a good £5000 less than a similar sporran that also sold at a Scottish auction house recently.

But this is just the hammer-price - a further 30 per cent or thereabouts in the way of fees is added.

I have to say I'm glad to see there are still a few well-heeled kilties with plenty of spending money, and that we're not all ageing paupers like me..!

					Wow.
About sporrans for the bargain-hunters, especially the ones in the US where seal is banned, here's an older (c1960?) WE Scott "EW1" that's missing the centre tassel, for $85 buy it now.

I've seen a lot of goofy things but I don't recall seeing anyone stick a button where a tassel should be.

But is it seal? I've seen a lot of off-white faux fur WE Scott sporrans from that period, and to my eye the fur on this one looks a bit odd in closeup.

An older, higher-quality, example of a common pattern that's still in production.
This one is so cool with the broguing around the flap and body.

And again an older, nicer example of a still-made style.

I think this was probably made by Nicoll Brothers.

Am I surprised at the final winning bid price of this nice stud-and-brogue sporran? Well, yes a bit. I thought it would stay below the £100 mark and probably achieve something around £75-£80.

So it makes me think this little lovely that has remained unused, and with its matching chain-strap, ought to be fished out from the back of the wardrobe and let it try its luck.

It has no branding, but is all but certainly by Nicol Bros.

Saw this on eBay while browsing for brown/tan sporrans..

Do it look legit? Any idea who the maker is (was?)? The info says it’s 1920s..

Oh it's legit sure enough, and somewhat older than the 1920s.
It's pretty much right out of my 1909 Leckie Graham's catalogue.

They show three having that leaf-shaped body.

Oh? Hmmmmm… right now it’s at £80 plus shipping and about 2 days left in the auction. Looks like it is missing the middle tassel, that would be pretty tough to replace wouldn’t it.. What do you think a fair, price would be for it?
