Any turkey hunters out there? Yesterday I was turning a turkey trumpet. I have made lots of them for friends. But this one was going to be special. I was making it out of Mopani as it has a good tone. It was coming out beautifully, but there was one little place that I was going to make better. Should have left well enough alone. I just wanted it to be perfect. As soon as I touched it with the tool it disintegrated. Pride certainly does come before the fall. I’ll start again Monday and see if I have learned anything.
Is a trumpet the same call as a yelper? I have a plastic one from primos is so.
I’ve seen some pretty amazing yelpers made from actual turkey bone.
