Kilted Friday, Not!
Two kilted adventures in one day. Yesterday, Park Lane Tavern begin their celebration of Oktoberfest. My once a year opportunity to wear my Tyrolean fedora which I like to team up with my green 5.11 Tactical Commando Kilt. I was fortunate to have attended with the American Embassy opening day of Oktoberfest in Munich in 1983. Later, I attended the Friends of the Rappahannoock's Riverfest fund raiser featuring steamed crabs. The kilt is always an icebreaker in meeting new people.

A kilted Friday AND Saturday. Friday I wore a polo shirt and Saturday a henley aka modern grandfather shirt. Both days Kilts and Culture pv. Since Culture is in the group name, Tweed at the symphony switching from the pv to the wool. I must really like the K&C tartan I guess? K&C kilt pin included. The site is only letting me upload some of the photos and not others. Ah, the wonders of modern technology!
Tha mi uabhasach sgith gach latha.
“A man should look as if he has bought his clothes (kilt) with intelligence, put them (it) on with care, and then forgotten all about them (it).” Paraphrased from Hardy Amies
Proud member of the Clans Urquhart and MacKenzie.

Looking good, K2K! The K&C tartan is definitely a winner designed by Rocky at USA Kilts.

Kilting at gym
I was greeted with a rousing cheer when I showed up at my gym fully kilted on Friday for Halloween party. Popular choice for pictures and fielded a few questions on kilting in general. Pointed one interested party to USA Kilts, will be interesting to see if he follows up. Not getting anywhere on posting picture in correct orientation.

Zooming around The Hill Country
It was Veterans Day on Monday, rather than Friday, but it was such a blast. The Z06 Corvette is such a beast. Its so quick, so agile, and the soundtrack is pure F1. This was taken from RR 337 just outside of Leakey, Texas - part of the Twisted Sisters.

Not very adventurous this Friday...
The only kilt adventure on my Friday was a short walk from the house to my home shop... wearing my utility kilt... set up the second hand wood lathe I recently purchased, and proceeded to turn a spindle for my piano bench project...
Was quickly covered in walnut "man glitter" (shavings and dust)... continued this activity today... and probably a couple more days next week.. then switch over to carving for a few days... I only wear my utility kilts when I am working aroud the house or shop...
When out and about in public, I wear a tartan kilt... but those adventures did not happen on Friday this week...
Mother nature is finally dropping the temperatures, so soon I will be wearing my 8 yard wool kilts again! Which reminds me I need to baste the 0leats on my Isle of Skye kilt and repress the pleats!

Today's TGIKF Adventure was one of celebration of reaching 73 years on this planet. I strapped on my @Tartan Hiker Kingussie box-pleat Wildcat tartan designed by Glen Allardyce to see the premiere of Gladiator II. My review of the film will suffice to say at the conclusion of it the tears running down my checks were to many to count. Afterwards, I went to my local Park Lane Tavern for lunch with a gift card from my sister. For starters an Ardbeg Islay whisky for the 50% Scottish and a Fuller's ESB for the 46% English Northwestern Europe genes. A good birthday to celebrate being above ground.

Last week, went to a wedding in Memphis and decided to wear a kilt on the plane. Got a number of compliments on my way to the plane in the terminal. Great conversation starter. Wore kilts to couple of events including wedding. Bartender seeing my Murray of Atholl kilt responded by pulling out the scotch reserved for a senior member of wedding party. I was most appreciative. He figured I qualified as senior member though I wasn't intended person.
