    New Balmoral tartan

    Saw this today -https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/articles/cgejzj859lqo

    Doesn’t seem to have a picture, though

    In all honesty I cant say that I like it, to my eye it is rather bland and disappointing. Still, its not me having to wear it!

    Says it was based on a fragment from Glen Affric. Is it related to the Glen Affric tartan?

    I'm struck with the similarity of structure and colours bewtween the new Balmoral tartan and the KCIII tartan, for example the two salmon (?) lines on the green field, and the major motif having broad dark blue bands flanking a pale centre.

    I'm guessing that these relationships were quite intended.
