    It's after New Years Eve but your question begs this question - are you wearing a kilt for you or for the reaction others may have? If you're wearing it for you, it matters not what others think or how they react. If you're wearing it for the reaction it may provoke, enjoy the reactions. As timemeddler said, many people "dress up" on NYE so, if that's what you want to do, do it.
