Hello from Neil, a new member.
Hello
I'm Neil. I live in Edinburgh although I was born in Glasgow! I decided to join the group as I can see lots of advice is offered on Highland dress sense. My main problem sometimes is deciding what colour hose, jacket etc for a particular occasion! I love wearing the kilt (I have two) plus a pair of tartan trews. Looking forward to being involved with others in the group and seeking your advice.

Welcome, Neil!
I'm no sartorial guru by any stretch, but for hose, I avoid a dominant color found in the tartan I'm wearing. If the jacket is a good contrast to the tartan, then something along the lines of the jacket color determines the hose for that day in my case.

Welcome from Inverness-shire.
As to hose colour, time and experience will guide you. However, as a start, be brave and work on the “ any colour you like as long as it’s not white or black” system, with the hose. Yes, it is rather vague , but it works!
As a suggestion, start with hose of various shades of green or, reds. Don’t worry about matching colours with the rest of your outfit.
