Leather kilts
I have two in addition to my plaid kilts and they are more part of my leather wardrobe than my Highland one .At first sight therefore separate worlds worn for quite different " tribes" . I know other men who have both too .
But there is some some crossover.
So the price and quality of leather accoutrements for kiltwear is very competitive retail( eg at the Highland Store here in London and on line- at least here in the UK. That includes belts ,and pouches to attach to them, and footware. And recently I bought a soft black leather Jacobite style short sleeve jacket with toggles not buttons. All of these go very well with other leather gear as well as plaid and a lot of leather and metal work with Celtic motifs is there too - much of it responding to the demand from Jacobite recreationists.
I also very boldly had a leather kilt made to measure in imitation of the black watch colours dark blue and green leather with black stitching and with a matching top/vest and flashes(very very expensive but very high quality work).
Some I guess might regard these obviously untraditional unconventional developments with distaste if not worse but I say it shows a healthy and positive and respectful interest in things celtic and ancient or early medieval and a departure from the notion that the only fit things for men to wear are worsted trousers or denim or outsize track suit bottoms!
