    The original Pipe Band Sporran, a miscegenation from the 1980s, the EW3 cantle stuck on the classic Hunting Sporran (but done up in black).

    Here is its Origin Story, along with those of two others:



    Note that all three of these 1980s miscegenations have in common denouement, two lovely traditional styles spawning one ungainly untraditional style.

    The style bottom right is the one that started the whole Pipe Band Sporran craze. Countless thousands of copies have been spawned in Sialkot.

    There were Pipe Band competitions in the 1990s where all 14 bands in a particular heat would be wearing these.

    I had to hold my hand (like Dr Strangelove) to keep from hitting the Buy It Now button.

    Not that I need another sporran! But its historical value (such as it is) appeals to me.
