Seriously though: does one have to 'use' something other than this website to get in? If so, it's no wonder I am getting nowhere with it.
    Hi Ham,

Its been ages. I trust you are well and fighting fit.

I was slightly relieved to here you're having problems as well. I'm not exactly computer literate but I usually manage to find my way around. I pop into other 'chat rooms' without any problem.

I emailed Khensu a while back but I dont think he understood what i was getting at (and to tell the truth, I didnt understand what he was asking lol)

I wonder if it has something to do with location?

Now, although I have come away from the 'Chat' Section, I am still periodically getting the disembodied voice greeting me whilst I am reading the postings!! :x

I'll bet it's all down to me - I've never used a 'Chat' facility on line before (and it doesn't look is if I'm going to now!!)
I have never specified a room either. I simply enter my name (no password) and click the chat button and I'm take to the chat room.

I have never heard a disembodied 'hello' or any other sound for that matter.

I seem to recall that you use AOL to connect to the internet Hamish. If so, it may explain a few things. AOL is behind a lot of things that don't quite work properly on the internet.

Try accessing the chat room using Internet explorer rather than aol's own interface, you may have better luck.

Thank you for that, Martin. I cannot believe it! I have never (knowingly) used Internet Explorer for anything, always AOL, but after nearly an hour I have found IE, tried it and, yes, I gained access to the chat area ............. but there was no-one else present! I have left a test message, so I think I'll know how to get back there again later.

Hope to 'chat' with some of you fellows 'ere long.

Now Hamish all you have to do is download Firefox and quit using IE all together. You'll be much safer that way.

That could be my problem also, I have AOL as well. I'll try internet explorer and see what happens.

    Hey Muddy,

Thanks for the compliment. I don't know if I should admit it here on this board, but that's a Sportkilt and they call it "St. Paddy".

I have two kilts, the Sportkilt and a kilt from Get Shirty. I like the look of the Get Shirty kilt, but I like the feel of the Sportkilt better. The Get Shirty kilt is 100% acrylic so it seems very light. I'm not sure what the Sportkilt is made out of, I guess it's a lightweight poly/vis.

Maybe someday I'll have a better kilt. Time will tell....

So THAT'S what the Chat Room looks like?

Now that I'm in the "un-loopy" I'll have to give it a rip one of these days!

    Hello Glen

Yes, I made it. All thanks to Martin and the AOL connection with Ham. Hope to chat with you there some day!
