Hey Satirist!!!
Tell us about your Jarls of Lochlann kilts.
What style and what fabric?
I must admit that I'm highly attracted to their Confederate Memorial Kilt.

eh, What's up Doc?
I don't have any of their tartans yet. Perhaps after I get some of the other kilt makers on my list purchased, I'll get some.
The two that I do have are based on their Kaber Kilt. I have the Orsman and the Valkyrie. They are both made of cotton twill. The website calls it "100% cotton denim twill", but my Orsman doesn't feel coarse like denim. It feels like smooth cotton twill, almost like my Dockers but thicker. I have it in Khaki. It has a snap in the lower corner of the apron which is for holding it down much like a kilt pin is used, but I've never used it.
I would take a picture of me wearing it and add it to this post, but I'm working under my truck today so I am in my jeans until I am done with my repairs.
My Valkyrie is black. It does feel more denim like, similar in feel to my UK original.
Before anyone buys a Valkyrie model, let me warn you that I bought it because it has cargo pockets, and Since I like the pockets on my UK original and workmans, I thought it would be nice to have. When it arrived, I went to put it on and found that the snaps were in the wrong aprons.
After more careful study I determined that it was in fact the ladies version. I did not find anything on their web site saying that it was the ladies version before I bought it. I thought that it was modeled by a woman on their site just to show the fact that woman can wear kilts also, much like the way the UK has photos of women wearing the UK.
I was going to change the snaps to make it wrap the men's direction but they have that pleated inner apron and that would make it look strange so I only wear this one to work. Fortunately no one there really knows about kilts other than what they have seen on me so I don't worry too much about it, but I'm not spending that kind of money on something and not wearing it at least once. I was going to send it back, but my wife convinced me it would be fine for work since I already wear my UK Workmans there so the cost would not be an issue.

How's the Orsman on wrinkles? Does it hold a pleat well?
Being broke is playing hell with accumulation of kilts. So I must say that the Jarls of Lochlann's prices are appealing. I was hoping you could give some feedback on their Monster Kilt. The though of one in the Confederate Memorial is growing on my mind.
BTW, glad to have another Southron on the site.

Well, Valkyrie IS kind of a tipoff. Oh well, we all make mistakes and Valkyrie isn't really what I'd associate with kilts.

Thanks. Since I only wear this kilt with nicer casual attire it doesn't have a chance to get dirty, so it goes back on the hanger until next time. It does get wrinkled where I sit, but the wrinkles are usually out by time I put it on again. I imagine that since it is cotton, when I do wash it I'll have to touch it up with an iron if I want to keep the pleats sharp as they aren't sewn in on the outside pleats.

Believe it or not, I didn't realize that a Valkyrie was a maiden who served Odin as choosers of slain warriors,
who were taken to reside in Valhalla, according to Norse mythology until I read your post and decided to do a google search for the word. When I thought of valkyrie, I thought of the 6 cylinder Honda motorcycle, never giving thought to the origins of the name. Even after reading your post the only other thing I could come up with before my search was the recollection of something I read as a youngster called the flight of the Valkyrie, which was about an airplane. I was never really into mythology even in school.
Oh well,live and learn.

Yeah, names from mythology get used for alot of things. I was always fascinated with ancient history and mythology. As for the Valkyrie, Richard Wagner wrote a piece called Ride of the Valkyrie and I bet you know some of it. It was used in Apocalypse Now when Duvals air cav choppers came in over the beach. As for the kilt, well, it's a simple mistake and I'm sure you aren't the only one that's made it.
